centre d’interpretació de l’aigua

The Torrelavit Water Systems Information Centre, a cultural and tourist group in El Penedès that values the role of the river in the area’s past, present, and future.

The Torrelavit Water Systems Information Centre tells the story of the close relationship between the Riudebitlles, together with its tributaries, and Torrelavit’s history and landscape. Here, you will be able to learn in-depth of the importance that the river has had on town life for a variety of reasons: how water was used domestically thanks to fountains and washhouses; for irrigation, through wells, dams, and canals; and in industry, with the construction of twelve paper mills which made Torrelavit an important centre for the paper industry from the 17th until the 20th century.

YOU’LL DISCOVER THE VALUE OF THE ROLE OF THE RIVER AND WATER IN THE AREA’S PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.
